Keefe Tech — The Next Generation of Tradesmen and Women —Another Amazing Chapter 74 Vocational Technical School

Colleagues,

We are pleased to share wonderful news from Keefe Regional Technical School in Framingham. Recently Adrienne Bogusky, Director of Guidance and Admissions, shared a video piece produced and broadcast on local Framingham Access called ‘The Next Generation of Tradesmen and Women”. It is exceptionally well done and I encourage you to watch and then consider doing a similar piece in collaboration with your local access television. The descriptive summary is copied below along with the video link.

The Next Generation of Tradesmen and Women

<![if !vml]><![endif]>From the carpenters that build our infrastructure, to the electricians that keep us powered up- tradesmen and women’s hard work is vital to our society. Like many fields, the trades are experiencing a shortage of workers, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t lots of tradesmen and women aspiring to join the workforce. For this story, we look to the next generation of those learning their tools of the trade, specifically right here in Framingham, at Keefe Regional Technical School. Keefe Tech is a vocational school that allows its students to pursue their chosen trade with hands-on learning. Across the board- from metal fabrication, to plumbing and HVAC- school officials, teachers, and students all stressed the value of learning with their hands. Something else though- repeated again and again- just how vital these trades jobs are to the world around us, and these students recognize that.

I was invited to Keefe Tech for lunch by Jon Evans, Jim Lynch, & Peter Dewar last week. First time I had seen Jim Lynch in many years, and it had been quite a while since I had the opportunity to visit this amazing school in Framingham.

In addition, I had the pleasure to tour the school, to visit some of the voc-tech programs that have been expanded to meet the amazing demand for Chapter 74 vocational technical education in the District. The waiting list has grown so much that there is only space for half of the applicants!

The best part was the opportunity to speak with the excited, engaged, and proud students. All were very glad to be students at Keefe Tech!

Lastly, I had the chance to take some photos which I have shared below.

The entire Keefe Tech school community has every reason to be proud!!
