LEOMINSTER — Appleseeds Restaurant recently marked a significant milestone – its 30th anniversary.

The student-operated culinary institution at the Leominster’s Center for Technical Education Innovation (CTEi) was celebrated with a gathering on Dec. 21 hosted by the culinary team and students.

“A key aspect of our jobs as vocational teachers is to teach employability to our students and in the food service industry that translates into providing superior customer service,” chef and instructor Emily McLaughlin said.

The event drew state Rep. Natalie Higgins, who presented a citation of congratulations sent from the legislative body, co-signed by Speaker of the House Ronald Mariano, according to a press release.

Appleseeds is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. when school is in session. Menu items rotate and some of the delicious homemade dishes offered over the last couple months include prime rib, baked lobster, and Asian salmon cakes over rice noodle salad, to name a few.

There are also mouthwatering desserts available, and all menu items are reasonably priced. The student eatery takes cash only and those with questions about daily specials and reservations can call 978-534-7735 ext. 2618.

There are two other instructors besides McLaughlin in the culinary program – Pastry Chef Donna Lafayette and Derek Brooks, who teaches front-of-house courses.
