Bristol-Plymouth Tech DECA Recognized for Thrive Level Chapter Campaigns

December 19, 2023 Madelyn Hedges School News

<![if !vml]><![endif]>TAUNTON — Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School DECA was among 645 chapters that achieved Thrive Level recognition during the 2023-2024 school year and will be commended at DECA’s International Career Development Conference (ICDC) held on April 27-30, 2024, in Anaheim, California.

Each fall, DECA offers four campaigns for chapters to complete as part of their program of leadership for the year. These campaigns are designed to grow membership engagement and build lasting partnerships within the school and local community. Chapters that achieve Thrive Level receive a commemorative pennant, flag, and plaque. The chapters also have an opportunity to participate in the International Career Development Conference. In order to receive Thrive Level recognition, the chapter completed two out of three chapter campaigns, including the community service campaign, ethical leadership campaign, and promotional campaign.

<![if !vml]><![endif]> Alternatively, the chapter could have participated in the membership campaign, which challenged the chapter to attain two of three goals: recruit 20 professional members, recruit 20 alumni members or increase student membership by 20 more members from the previous school year.

The Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School DECA members who contributed to the Thrive recognition were Rylie Hamblin, Madison Gilbert, Alexis Frye, Mia Dias, Caitlin Nixon, Nathan True, Kelsie Farrah, Talyn Silva, Tamara Rivera-DeJesus, Imogen Uhrig, Madelynn McNamara, Ved Patel, Jaelynn McAuliffe, Brennan Bouley, Connor Francisco, and Hannah Augustin with the assistance of their advisors, Jennifer Karamanian and Sherri Swindle.

B-P DECA is always finding ways to help within its communities. This year, B-P DECA created holiday cards for senior citizens at local nursing homes, collected items for the less fortunate, distributed Halloween treats to hundreds of families at the Taunton Trunk or Treat, partnered with many local businesses to promote both B-P DECA as well as those local companies in its communities. Members actively recruited business partners and alumni to be involved with DECA and to support our chapter.

<![if !vml]><![endif]>B-P DECA learned that many of its alumni are actively pursuing education and careers in business and report that it was their involvement in DECA that fueled their passion for this path. They also attribute their increased confidence, success, and community involvement to their time in the DECA chapter. Student members actively recruited new members’ as well through informational meetings and by attending student orientations and constantly talking with their peers about their experiences and everything that DECA has to offer.

“B-P DECA is committed to promoting our DECA program and to being involved in our community through many community service activities and we couldn’t be prouder of our members for their continued success,” said DECA Advisor and Business Instructor. Jennifer Karamanian.
