We are pleased to share this exciting information we received from Elvio Ferreira, Director of CTE at Brockton Public Schools. This grant award will support the expansion of daytime Career and Technical Education programs form Brockton Public Schools , as well as initiate afternoon and evening courses at Attleboro High School through the Adult Education program. Graduating seniors from Brockton High School will work with faculty and staff from Attleboro and to enroll in high demand CTE programs leading to acquisition of various Industry Recognized Credentials.

Brockton Public Schools Announce the award of a $415,000 grant for the expansion of its Career and Technical Education programs

Brockton Public Schools is proud to announce the award of a $415,000 grant for the expansion of its Career and Technical Education programs. The initiative is a partnership between Brockton and Attleboro, with planning support from Southeastern Regional Voc Tech. This grant award from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will support the expansion of daytime Career and Technical Education programs form Brockton Public, as well as initiate afternoon and evening courses at Attleboro High School through the Adult Education program. Graduating seniors from Brockton High School will work with faculty and staff from Attleboro and to enroll in high demand CTE programs leading to acquisition of various Industry Recognized Credentials.

This pilot program funded by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will extend the availability of Career Technical courses and eventually connect students with Early College and Pre-College programs. Brockton students will have an opportunity to learn at Attleboro’s new state of the art labs and benefit from cutting edge skill development and competency acquisition which are highly valued by South Shore employers. Brockton and Southeastern continue to explore opportunities for their faculties to collaborate in developing curriculum to support expanded access to high-quality CTE.

All three institutions are committed to developing new pathways where student can gain needed skills to become strong contributors to the Commonwealth’s labor market.

This first of its kind pilot program was developed by superintendents Michael Thomas (Brockton) and David Sawyer (Attleboro) with planning support from Holly McClanan (Southeastern Regional). Daytime program expansion at Brockton High will be in the areas of Automotive Technology, Carpentry, Graphic Communications, and Culinary Arts. Afternoon and evening programs will be more vast as both Attleboro and Southeastern Regional are fully licensed in eighteen Chapter 74 programs.
