Important Information for CVTE Educators and Frameworks Subject Matter Experts

Colleagues,
We are pleased to share this important information from Lisa Sandler regarding the online public vetting of our Chapter 74 Draft Frameworks.  Please review this message and timelines so you remain informed and included in this process, and be sure to include any advisors and stakeholders for input, as needed.

Good morning Superintendent, Principals, CTE Directors, Administrators, Teachers:

The Office for College, Career, and Technical Education is pleased to announce On-Line Public VETTING of Chapter 74 Revised DRAFT Frameworks from Oct. 11th – Oct. 31st , along with the release of DRAFT Strand 5 and Strand 6.

The Timeline for Vetting and Posting follows:

Public VETTING Period: October 11th – October 31st

DESE Review Period:  Nov 1st – Nov 30th

Commissioner Review and Approval: December 2022

Final Posting: January 2023

We encourage you to review all materials, as these are DRAFT documents and we are soliciting your input.

All revised DRAFT Frameworks now include Skill Levels: Basic, Essential, Advanced, and Advanced Plus, equipment lists, and two distinct charts: one for the Hours of Instruction and the other for Industry Recognized Credentials.  Please review all information, particularly Strand 2 of the DRAFT Frameworks, along with the Hours of Instruction Chart and Industry Recognized Credential Chart and materials.

Subject Matter Experts provided expertise for Strand 2 standards and objectives, to calculate estimated instructional hours for the delivery of content standards identified in the NEW Hours of Instruction Chart.  Carefully review the DRAFT Hours of Instruction Chart as the proposed hours for many programs exceed 900 hours. We are seeking your feedback/input on the proposed hours.

Additionally, an Industry Recognized Credential (IRC) Chart has been created.  All IRC’s have been categorized as “Essential” or “Optional”, and we welcome your feedback on the NEW Industry Recognized Credential Chart, definitions, and identified 3rd party validations within each framework.

Please dismiss Strand 3, as we piloted a new approach for Embedded Academics, which will be adapted to the existing Strand 3 Content in each framework.

Be sure to share the documents with your Program Advisory Committee Members to solicit their feedback.
