Upper Cape Tech Chapter 74 Vocational Technical Students Advocate for Animals

Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School Your bridge to the future… Your gateway to success.

Colleagues,

We are always pleased to share interesting learning experiences provided to our students in our Chapter 74 schools. Here is one from Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School in Bourne.

Students from the veterinary science program at Upper Cape Cod Tech visited the State House to talk to legislators about bills to ban the retail sale of animals in pet shops and to reduce housing barriers for people with companion animals.

Superintendent Roger Forget stated: "I couldn’t be prouder of our students for using their voices to advocate for the issues that matter to them in their chosen trade of

Veterinary Science. Their ability to engage with legislators demonstrates leadership, civic responsibility, and a dedication to the protection of animals."

Students enrolled in the school’s Veterinary Science program will understand the fundamentals of animal science, be introduced to a variety of species, breeds, and characteristics (both large and small animal), compare animal anatomy and physiology, research animal disease and prevention, and study genetics, breeding and reproduction of domestic animals. Working and learning in the school’s new Veterinary Science building, these students will be introduced to all aspects of a comprehensive veterinary medicine practice, and hands on learning experience.
