ATTLEBORO — The city’s high school has been awarded a $112,024 grant to create and implement curriculum to integrate career-connected learning with grade-level-aligned math, English and science.

The Curriculum Frameworks and Competency Based Implementation grant from the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will support Attleboro High School in implementing the CTE requirements using competency-based systems that map teaching, learning, and assessment to ensure students gain the skills and knowledge necessary for college, career, and civic engagement, Superintendent David Sawyer and Principal Kate Campbell said.

They said high school administrators will engage with the state, students, families and other stakeholders to implement systems that integrate career-connected learning with grade-level-aligned math, English, and science content.

“Attleboro High School is excited to be participating in the competency-based CTE curriculum development program,” said Jeremy Guay, associate principal for career and technical education at Attleboro High. “We believe that this approach will provide students with clear pathways to gain essential skills and knowledge, fostering a more engaging and relevant learning experience.”

Grant funds will be used for competency-based CTE/academic curriculum integration, assessment development, and professional development.
