We are most excited to share the names of two more of the U.S. CTE Presidential Scholar nominees from Massachusetts. Jill A. Davis, Superintendent-Director at Greater Lowell Technical High School had two of her students selected. Nichollas Morais, a senior in the CADD Program and Madisyn Koza a senior in the Information Technology Program have been selected by Acting Commissioner Russell D. Johnston and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to represent the state.

Superintendent-Director Davis stated:

“This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the excellence they have demonstrated throughout their academic and career technical education. Being chosen from a highly competitive pool of candidates across the state is a tremendous honor, and we are incredibly proud of both of them!

In addition, we were just made aware that Nicholas Morais, was also accepted to Massachusetts Institute of Technology!

This is an amazing achievement and a proud moment for Nick, his family, and our school community. Over the years we have worked hard to empower our students to aim high and achieve their dreams, and Nick’s acceptance to such a prestigious institution reflects the dedication and hard work he has put into his education. It also highlights the supportive environment and collective efforts of our teachers and staff in nurturing knowledge, technical skills and ambition! We are excited to see the incredible impact Nick will undoubtedly make at MIT and beyond.”

MAVA is most proud of Nicolas and Madisyn! We wish them continued success in the next round of competition!

As you are aware, eleven years ago, the U.S. Presidential Scholars program was expanded to include CTE students specifically. Presidential Scholars in CTE are selected for their “outstanding scholarship and demonstrated ability and accomplishment in career and technical education fields.” Nominees are selected from each state in the country based on their academic rigor, technical competence, employability skills, and ingenuity and creativity.

Best wishes!

David
