MAVA Colleagues,
Chapter 74 Agricultural schools are always forming collaborations with municipalities and organizations. Bristol County Agricultural developed a unique one with the Preservation Society of Newport County. The talented Floriculture students from Bristol County Agricultural once again demonstrated their creative skills by adorning three distinguished mantelpieces at the historic Newport Mansions with enchanting holiday displays.

Bristol County Agricultural High School Floriculture Students Elevate Holiday Elegance at Newport Mansions
At The Breakers, the students worked in Mr. Vanderbilt’s bedroom with toy trains, mixed red and green plaids, and black top hats.
As part of a prestigious opportunity extended to them, students undertook the task of infusing festive cheer into the magnificent interiors of three distinct houses within the Newport Mansions. Each room served as a blank canvas for the students, who meticulously curated and executed unique designs inspired by different holiday themes. The collaboration between Bristol County Agricultural High School and Preservation Society of Newport County | Newport Mansions reflects a collaborative blend of education and real-world application. The students not only showcased their technical skills in floriculture but also demonstrated an understanding of the nuances of thematic design. The result is a stunning visual that integrates seamlessly with the grandeur of the historic Newport Mansions.
The three mantelpiece installations not only celebrate the holiday season but also respect the rich history and architectural splendor of Newport Mansions. The thematic diversity across the rooms is a testament to the students’ versatility, creativity, and dedication to their craft. This collaboration underscores the commitment of Bristol County Agricultural High School to providing students with opportunities to apply their knowledge in a prestigious setting. It also reinforces the significance of hands-on learning experiences and workforce readiness for our students in the field of floriculture.

The Family Sitting Room at The Elms is decorated as a Gilded Age family Christmas with vintage ornaments and antique toys. Traditional reds, greens, and antique metallics are the foundation of this room’s color scheme.
