The 35th annual commencement of Blue Hills Regional Technical School’s Practical Nursing Program took place Thursday, June 20, at Blue Hills Regional Technical School.
Superintendent-Director Jill Rossetti would like to congratulate Blue Hills Regional Technical School’s Practical Nursing Program Class of 2024 on their graduation.
The 35th annual commencement of Blue Hills Regional Technical School’s Practical Nursing Program took place Thursday, June 20, at Blue Hills Regional Technical School, 800 Randolph St., Canton.
The 20 graduates honored during the ceremony were Aimalohi Abohi, Priscillah Bastien, Alexandra Kristen Burns, Camille Janet Centeno, Malia E. Clinton, Brooke Ellen Ferbert, Mary Nganga Fugler, Melanie Fernandes Goncalves, Monica Karongo, Carmel Loiseau, Peter Gitau Mburu, Micheal Nsamba Mukuye, Katherine Juleisy Peguero, Nicole Marie Perry, Linh Tuyet Pham, Hanna Gayle Rowan, Jasmine S. Tinker-Jones, Emily McLane Williams, Tiara Witherspoon, and Neissa Anne Zamor.
“It is my pleasure to recognize each of our 20 graduates for this remarkable accomplishment,” said Practical Nursing Program Coordinator Donna Theodore. “Throughout the course of this program, our students learn not only a respectable trade but a great deal of sensitivity and empathy while caring for those in need. We look forward to seeing what they will do next.”
Opening remarks were made by the District School Committee Chair Kevin Connolly from Norwood and was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, led by Class of 2024 graduating student and newly naturalized U.S. citizen Mary Fugler.
Twenty students in the Blue Hills Practical Nursing Program graduated on Thursday, June 20.
The ceremony also featured remarks from Program Coordinator Theodore, Blue Hills Practical Nursing Program Class of 2021 and current LPN Erica Roberts and class representatives Emily Williams and Neissa Zamor.
During the ceremony, graduates participated in the candle-lighting ritual and recited the Nightingale Pledge. Nurses in the audience were invited to stand and join the graduates in reciting the pledge.
Certificates were awarded by Canton School Committee Vice Chair Mark Driscoll, Program Coordinator Donna Theodore, Blue Hills Practical Nursing Program Class of 2021. Also, Karen Graves, DSC Rep from Randolph and Eric Erskine, DSC Rep from Braintree attended the graduation ceremony.
Abohi was honored as Valedictorian. Pham was honored as Salutatorian.
Bastien and Perry were recognized for clinical excellence. Peguero, Rowan, and Williams were recognized for graduating with honors.
Closing remarks were made by Superintendent-Director Rossetti.
“As the final cohort of this program, you hold a unique and special place in the history of Blue Hills,” said Superintendent-Director Rossetti. “You are the torchbearers of a legacy that has shaped and nurtured countless nurses before you. The knowledge and experiences you have gained here are invaluable, and they will guide you as you step into your roles as healthcare professionals. You represent the culmination of years of dedication by our faculty and staff, and you embody the excellence that Blue Hills has stood for.”
Blue Hills Regional Practical Nursing Program
The Blue Hills Regional Practical Nursing Program is a post-secondary adult 10-month full-time nursing program at Blue Hills Regional Technical School in Canton. Graduates of the program are prepared both academically and clinically to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN) through the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
