Senior Dayna Mbugua has been selected as a semi-finalist for the National Honor Society Scholarship.
TAUNTON — Superintendent Alex Magalhaes and National Honor Society (NHS) Advisor Mark Lebeda are pleased to announce that Bristol-Plymouth senior student Dayna Mbugua has been selected as a semi-finalist for the National Honor Society Scholarship.
The scholarship program is supported by the parent organization of NHS, the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP). Since 1946, NASSP has awarded more than $23 million in scholarships to NHS seniors. This year, NASSP is awarding $2 million in scholarships to 600 students.
Scholarship recipients are selected based on their demonstration of the four pillars of NHS including scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Scholarship recipients will be announced in March.
“We’re thrilled that Dayna is in the running for such a prestigious award and want to congratulate her for all she’s achieved thus far,” said NHS Advisor Lebeda.
In addition to her role as a member of the Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School National Honor Society, Mbugua currently serves as state reporter for the SkillsUSA 2023-2024 State Executive Council. Mbugua is also Bristol-Plymouth’s Outstanding Vocational Student of the Year for 2024.
“On behalf of Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School, I would like to congratulate Dayna for achieving semi-finalist status for the National Honor Society Scholarship,” said Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School Principal Karen Guenette. “Dayna is an exceptional student who regularly demonstrates the values of the National Honor Society both inside and outside of the classroom.”
