Marching to the Beat – A Podcast
by Michelle Alexander | Jan 12, 2024
In commemoration of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday, January 15th, Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech is proud to present its first podcast, "Marching To The Beat," created by Media Technology students.
This past November, as part of our Creative Expression Contest themed ‘Marching to the Beat of Justice’, seniors were challenged to craft art that confronts contemporary injustices. Inspired by Dr. King’s vision, they were tasked to envision themselves as leaders, spearheading solutions to societal challenges. Integral to their creations were elements from Dr. King’s profound speeches and writings, serving as a beacon of inspiration and a reminder of the enduring power of his message.
The result is a testament to the talent and dedication of our students. This podcast not only showcases their ingenuity and technical prowess, but also offers them invaluable, hands-on experience in media production. It’s a remarkable opportunity for learning, collaboration, and making a meaningful impact in the media world. Congratulations to all students and faculty involved with our first podcast. This is just the beginning, and we eagerly anticipate future podcasts that will cover various topics with a focus on cultural appreciation, alumni impact, and the artisan imprint.

In honor of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday, January 15th, Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech would like to share a podcast created by one of its Media Technology students, Ryan Wilder.
In November 2023, seniors were assigned to create a piece of art for the Creative Expression Contest fitting the 2024 theme of Marching to the Beat of Justice.
Students were expected to describe an injustice that they see today and express how they would take the lead, like a drum major, to bring a solution to the problem. References from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s speeches and writings were to be included and used as an inspiration.
Make a career of humanity. Commit yourself to the noble struggle for equal rights. You will make a better person of yourself, a greater nation of your country, and a finer world to live in.
