Assabet Valley Regional Technical to Host Annual Veterans Day Assembly

MARLBOROUGH — Superintendent Ernest F. Houle is excited to share that Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School will host its annual Veterans Day assembly on Thursday.

Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School will be holding two ceremonies to honor military veterans. The first ceremony will be for academic students, grades 9 and 11, and the second ceremony will be for vocational students, grades 10 and 12. The Assabet community welcomes students, family, alumni, and local recruiters to attend.
U.S. Marine Corps Maj. (Ret.) Travis Bowser, Senior Marine Instructor with the school’s Junior ROTC program will be the master of ceremonies. Chief Master Sgt. USAF (Ret.) Peter Bradley, who is also an Assabet alumnus, will be the main guest speaker.
Students and staff members will talk about the Remember Everyone Deployed (RED) initiative, where wearing red on Fridays has become a tradition across the country, to honor and support troops and veterans.
During the assembly, cadets from the Junior ROTC program will perform the color guard for the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem and present the service flags. Assabet band and chorus members will also perform throughout the ceremonies.
Those who wish to participate in the RED initiative may wear RED to support Assabet wears RED. Funds were raised this past week to support the local organization Project New Hope, Inc., which is committed to helping U.S. Veterans, their spouses or partners and children address the challenges, fears, and stigma that they face during and after Military service.
