BILLERICA — Shawsheen Valley Regional Vocational Technical School District is pleased to announce that registration is open for its annual Project Explore program for seventh-grade students.

The program, which starts in January, is run in partnership with Shawsheen’s sending middle schools, and is split into three sessions by town. Registration is filled on a first-come, first-served basis at ShawsheenTech.org.

Project Explore is a free, high-quality after-school program tailored to seventh-grade students residing within Shawsheen’s school district (Bedford, Billerica, Burlington, Tewksbury, and Wilmington). This unique program offers students an opportunity to explore a variety of career options by immersing themselves in six out of the 20 vocational-technical programs available at Shawsheen. The program spans three weeks, taking place on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, from 2:15 pm to 4:45 pm. Bus transportation is provided from each sending middle school to Shawsheen, and complimentary drop-off service is provided near the attendees’ homes (specific stops are determined before the start of each session).

Mark your calendar for the following session dates:

• Session 1 (Billerica): Jan. 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, 25

• Session 2 (Burlington & Tewksbury): Jan. 30 and Feb. 1, 6, 8, 13, 15

• Session 3 (Bedford, Hanscom and Wilmington): Feb. 27, 29 and March 5, 7, 12, 14.

The 2024 Project Explore season boasts an exciting lineup of programs, including Advanced Manufacturing, Automotive, Bakery, Carpentry, Cosmetology, Culinary, Design and Visual Communications, Electrical, Graphic Arts, Health Assisting, Masonry, and Metal Fabrication & Welding. Please note that programs are subject to change, and students are randomly rotated through the programs.

This incredible opportunity to help your seventh grader explore their potential and discover possible career paths. Visit ShawsheenTech.org for more information and to register.
