Colleagues,
We are always excited to share interesting ideas and activities that have proven successful in one or more of our MAVA schools. Today we are pleased to share an interesting collaboration from our colleagues at Tantasqua Regional Vocational High School.
Over the past year, Tantasqua Regional Vocational High School has partnered with All Points North Foundation and Tantasqua Educational Foundation to fund an exciting project. The carpentry students and electrical students have worked to build an amazing solar ground trainer. All Points North has been an amazing partner and is eager to work with other MAVA member schools.
Our longtime colleague Mark Wood, Principal-Director at Tantasqua, shared this exciting partnership with us. The collaboration has also enhanced Environmental Science Classes, as well as a field trip option where elementary students from sending towns can learn from our electrical students about solar power.
Mark is most willing to provide additional information to MAVA colleagues who are interested in a similar collaboration!

All Points North Foundation is committed to promoting solar options to schools and communities. When applying for the grant, Tantasqua hit a bump; specifically the school is not a 5013c. This is where the Ted Foundation came to the rescue. Ted funds teacher written grants for the Tantasqua/Union61 District. The partnership has resulted in a solar ground trainer that will teach our students the process for installing solar panels on a roof without being 30 feet off the ground. Carpentry students built the structure that also has two large sheds underneath. One will be used by the Electrical Program and the other is a garden shed for our Conservation Class. The carpentry students also built a beautiful storage shed that will store electrical supplies.
The ground trainer will also serve as a resource for our Environmental Science Classes, as well as a field trip option where elementary students from our sending towns can learn from our electrical students about solar power. All Points North has been an amazing partner and is eager to work with other MAVA member schools.
