A Teacher at Keefe Tech, has been selected by the Massachusetts Foreign Language Association (MaFLA) as the State Designee

South Middlesex Regional Technical School District is thrilled to announce that Mrs. Kate Sanders, a Spanish & Music teacher at Keefe Tech, has been selected by the Massachusetts Foreign Language Association (MaFLA) as the state designee for the “Emerging Leader” delegate by the Leadership Initiative for Language Learning (LILL).

This national designation is sponsored by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) and is a testament to her unwavering dedication and commitment to her craft. The LILL was established in 2015 with the goal of empowering educators to become agents for change. Mrs. Sanders was nominated following a rigorous application process and is one of 50 educational leaders who will represent the Commonwealth of Massachusetts over the next two years as part of Cohort 5. Her work will begin this summer in Georgia.

Mrs. Sanders was also selected to present her work, Vine, Vi, Gané: Conquering the Challenges of Proficiency-Based Instruction, at the national ACTFL Convention and World Languages Expo in Chicago this coming fall. Over 1,200 proposals are submitted annually by educators across the nation with the hope of being selected to present before their colleagues. This symposium is recognized as the most comprehensive professional development event for language educators in the United States.

We would like to congratulate Mrs. Sanders on these terrific achievements! We look forward to her ongoing work while she proudly represents Massachusetts and CTE!
